Dr. Reggie Munden is a physician radiologist who specializes in reading images of the lungs and chest. He has a special interest in computed tomography (CT scans) for detecting and assessing lung cancer. He was instrumental in the national clinical trial that proved using CT to screen for lung cancer worked. He helped to establish national guidelines and reporting standards for lung cancer screening. Dr. Munden is actively engaged in the education and training of students and graduate trainees in radiology. Dr. Munden graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. He is a graduate of the MUSC College of Medicine and also the MUSC College of Dentistry. He completed radiology residency at MUSC and a fellowship in thoracic imaging at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. After training, he spent 19 years at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX. This included 14 years at top-rated MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). Dr. Munden is a professor and chair of the Department of Radiology and chief of the Radiology Integrated Centers of Clinical Excellence at MUSC.
