Dr. Luis G. Medina is a urologic oncologist and Assistant Professor of Urology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of urologic malignancies, including prostate, kidney, bladder, penile, urethral, adrenal, testicular, and upper tract cancers. Dr. Medina earned his medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He completed his urology residency and a fellowship in Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology at the University of Southern California (USC). He then completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at MUSC before joining the faculty. His clinical and research interests focus on improving outcomes for patients with urologic cancers through surgical innovation, collaborative research, and personalized treatment strategies. His clinical practice covers a comprehensive range of treatment options, including robotic surgery, complex open surgery, single-port surgery, and focal therapy. In addition to caring for patients, he serves as Associate Program Director of the Urologic Oncology Fellowship. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings. He was awarded the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Clinical Scholar Grant to support his research and remains active in several professional organizations, including the Global Society of Rare Genitourinary Tumors and the American Urological Association. Dr. Medina is committed to providing high-quality, multidisciplinary cancer care tailored to each patient's goals and needs. He strives to ensure that every patient feels well-informed and supported throughout their cancer journey. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
