Originally from Charlotte, NC, Dr. Loper earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) at the University of South Carolina (USC), his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the USC School of Medicine, and his Master of Science (MS) at the University of Pennsylvania. Following medical school, he completed a residency in pediatrics. He then worked as a pediatrician while completing a second residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. A diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and the American Board of Preventative Medicine, Dr. Loper is quadruple board-certified in pediatrics, general psychiatry, child \& adolescent psychiatry, and addiction medicine. He is the medical director at the William J McCord Adolescent Addiction Treatment Facility, and the program director for the MUSC College of Medicine Rural Psychiatry Residency Program, both in Orangeburg, SC. He provides clinical services and clinical supervision of patient care by resident physicians for children, adolescents, and adults at the MUSC Orangeburg Behavioral Health and Psychiatry Clinic.
