Dr. John Metcalf is a surgical pathologist and a dermatopathologist. He is responsible for the microscopic diagnosis of melanoma on skin biopsies and evaluation of surgical specimens related to the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. Other duties include the training of students, residents, and fellows in the evaluation and diagnosis of melanocytic lesions, benign and malignant, (as well as in the evaluation of other cutaneous neoplasms and inflammatory skin diseases). He is the director of the dermatopathology section (pathology and laboratory medicine) and is professor of pathology and dermatology.
