Eric Matthew Graham, MD

Dr. Graham is the Children's Heart Program Chair in Pediatric Cardiac and Congenital Heart Disease and Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina where he serves as the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology. Dr. Graham previously served as the Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Training Program and the Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at MUSC.
He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Graham completed pediatric residency, pediatric cardiology fellowship, and pediatric cardiac critical care fellowship training at the Medical University of South Carolina. He joined the faculty at MUSC in 2005. Dr. Graham has expertise in pediatric cardiac critical care with special interest in single ventricle physiology and the perioperative management of neonates.
Dr. Graham's research, supported by NIH R01 funding, focuses on improving outcomes for children undergoing cardiac operations, perioperative pharmacologic therapies, and elucidating the inflammatory response to cardiopulmonary bypass and he has authored almost 100 publications in this area. He serves as the co-PI for MUSC's participation as a Pediatric Heart Network core site. He participates in many multi-institutional clinical trials, has presented his work at national and international meetings, and has been the recipient of numerous awards for his research. Dr. Graham also serves as the Chair of the Early Career and Mentoring Committee for the American Heart Association's Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young and as a member of the Cardiology sub-board of the American Board of Pediatrics.
