Dr. David Gutman is an associate professor of anesthesia and perioperative medicine at MUSC. He is a transplant from New York City. He finished his residency training at Maimonides Medical Center, located in Brooklyn, New York, and completed his obstetrical anesthesiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, located in Manhattan, New York. Dr. Gutman is a member of the general anesthesia team within the MUSC department of anesthesiology and spends 20 to 40 percent of his clinical time in his subspecialty of obstetrical anesthesiology on the labor and delivery floor. He also safely manages patients going for general surgery, neurosurgery, gynecological surgery, orthopedic surgery, and vascular surgery. , Dr. Gutman's interests include neuraxial anesthesia, management and prevention of post-operative nausea and vomiting, multimodal pain management, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
